How to Play Roulette and Read the Odds

The betting layout splits into inside bets on specific numbers and outside bets on large groups. Inside bets pay more and land less often; outside bets do the reverse. On a single-zero wheel the house edge is the same on almost all of them, so the choice is about variance rather than value.

• Straight up - one number, pays 35 to 1, lands roughly once in 37 spins.
• Split, street, corner, line - two to six numbers, paying 17 to 1 down to 5 to 1.
